- ⅓oz rich simple syrup (2:1 brown)
- ¼oz amaretto liqueur
- ½oz Malört
- 2oz bourbon (Koval)
Stir and serve up in a well-chilled coupe. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
Scotch variation (needs a different name)
- ⅓oz rich simple syrup (2:1 brown)
- ¼oz amaretto liqueur
- ¼oz dark rum (Gosling’s Black Seal)
- ½oz Malört
- 1¾oz blended scotch
Works pretty well, taste progresses nicely from sweet to rich (the molasses from the dark rum) to bitter.
Something is a bit out of place, and could use a bit of brightness. Maybe try triple sec instead of amaretto?
Orange variant
- ½oz triple sec
- ½oz Malört
- 2oz blended scotch
Works pretty nicely, the orange does give it some brightness. For this recipe I used a very sweet triple sec (Hiram Walker), for a drier one probably substitute ¼oz syrup or amaretto.
